Hi Blaze, the links below represent pretty much everything that federal government offers as a domestic help. You can apply for each of these programs if you are eligible and you don’t have to pay anything for application kit. In addition to the information published here at Aidpage, you can download Federal Money Retriever software (it is FREE, too!) and use its build-in pre-application wizard to request the said kit for each of the government grant or loan programs. hi guys, i applied for a federal grant through one of the sites on this page, and i got a call today from someone who says they will charge me 299.00 and guarantee me a grant w/in 2 wks...does anyone know if this is a scam?? they said they find me the grant and guarantee and if i dont get the grant they refund me the money? but i have to pay em first? can anyone help??

AllSmiles... this definitely is a scam! Nobody can get you a grant in two weeks. Don't pay them. You will not be able to get your money back.

I am on SSI/SSDI, recovering from severe trauma, and stress related conditions, including diabetes. I want to move to the West Coast in about 1-3 months from now [May 20, 2007,] where there are more resources for recovery, vocational rehabilitation, and I can be near some family members. I have come a long way in my recovery, intend to fully recover, and to start a business, prospering myself and others contributing my gifts and talents. I need safe, decent housing, possibly Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, as soon as possible, and about $15,000 for travel and transitional housing for a few months when I arrive in my new city.

It does not seem there is any way to raise this money while on SSI/SSDI.
The lawyer who helped me get onto SSI/SSDI urged me not to work at all, so I wouldn't risk losing my benefits or getting mired down in reams of red tape.

The problem is, I only get $634/mo., and about $15/mo. in Food Stamps, and it is not enough money to
have any left over to save money to move. My Social Security Benefits Planner says I can earn $860 more per month without losing my Medicaid or Medicare as long as I report the earnings promptly.

I feel an urgent need to move,NOW,to be nearer my grandchildren while they are still young, and to live in a city that will better support me in recovering as quickly as possible.

Right now, I live in a small-medium size town that just cut its budget for transportation of disabled and senior citizens, which makes it very difficult to get to the recreation facilities, physical therapy, doctors,
church, grocery store, etc. I urgently need to get to. The attitude towards disabled, elderly, low-income people is quite hostile, here, too.

I feel I can more rapidly recover, to a large degree, if I live where there is good public transportation, and more diverse services, and more enlightened politics.

I would appreciate suggestions on where to find financial assistance as soon as possible for transportation to Portland, OR, from Colorado, as well as for my first few months rent there, and where to find affordable/decent/safe transitional housing.

I found some websites that AidPage guided me to a few days ago for air transport if you are ill and need to be near your family, would appreciate guidance to them, again, as I can't find them today....

Will Social Security take away this free airfare if I get it????

Hi my name is Barb. I am truly sorry to hear about your dilemma. I can only think of asking your social worker about requesting the airlines to fly you for free.

I believe your surgeon writes a letter or calls the airportand speaks with american airlines, for example and explaines your situation. The trip will be a need for the disabled and elderly. I would suggest which airline honors the full faith and good samaritan act, and request you doctor to assist you in the move.

2. Can one of your children fill out a senior citizen resident for you. I am hoping you would obtain senior citizen housing first.

3. Perhaps, you or your family member can locate a nursing home facility; in the new state which you are seeking, to locate to and request an apartment in the building.

4. Maybe you can call one of the nursing homes and speak to one of the agencies inside like for elderly club members. Then sign your self up to become a club member and obtain assistance this way in the new state.
Your medicaid and medicare will pay.

I hope some of this information can be of good help to you.

I know you will get through this, take your time, do not forget to take your medication, relax and allow your self to get ready for change.

Hi my name is Lana and I am a aspiring nurse. I am currently a cna and want much more out of the health care field. I was recently fired from my job in a long-term care facility due to too many call offs. I devloped a bleeding gastric ulcer and was instructed by my physician not go to work because stress could make it much worse. I was even given a excuse form my doctor . As i was still in my 90 day probationarie period, It didn't matter to them and fired my anyway. To top it all off, about a week ago, I received 3 14day shut off notices from my utilite companies. I have had interveiws lately but even if I get hired I have to wait until my tuberculiousis screenings are done.They are a two step test that takes 2 weeks to do. I have tried negotiating with the utlitie companies but its harder to do when you have no job. I also applied for unemployment but haven't heard anything yet. I dont no what to do anymore. Im about to be on the street and 10 steps back from my dream. I am so scared right now that I dont even want to walk out side my door. I just sleep and hope it will all turn around some way.
If you can find it in your heart to help me any way you can would be appreciated. To go back to school would be around $5000 and my utilities are in the 1000 dollar range. If you know what grants are available and free to get the kit please let me know. I dont know what else to do.
